A few useful details

Before you explore

Images come from different collections. Here is what to know about using the app and your discoveries.

Can I use the images in my own projects?

Terms depend on the source. Pixabay images use the Pixabay Content License; The Met’s Open Access images of public-domain artworks are available under CC0. Check the image’s source terms and any third-party rights before using it.

Does FreePics work offline?

Downloaded favorites remain available offline. Finding and downloading new images requires an internet connection.

Is FreePics free?

Yes. FreePics is a free Android app and contains ads. External services opened from the app have their own terms and may require an account or subscription.

Which image sources are available?

Browse Pixabay and The Met Open Access collection. OpenClipart is also supported; its availability depends on the service. Results, image sizes and formats vary by source. If a provider is unavailable, try another source.

How does artwork research work?

For Met artworks, you can send a research question, catalog information and source links to the ChatGPT or Claude app, if installed. That external service provides the response under its own terms. FreePics does not include an AI subscription.

Is every image suitable for children?

Content comes from external collections, including museum art. Pixabay SafeSearch is enabled, but it does not cover The Met or guarantee that every result is suitable for every age. FreePics is not designed for children under 13.

Your next discovery is waiting.
